Vintage is vogue, and Rome has no shortage of surprises. Famous labels lie hidden away inside palaces dating back centuries to the height of the Roman Baroque. And I hold the key.
This unique tour is the ultimate vintage shopping excursion in Rome - something for the serious vintage lovers out there who are looking to add something special to their collections.
Visit Sarah Jessica-Parker’s favorite vintage store in Rome (a hidden retreat I’ve been visiting for years!) as well as Rome’s most fashionable areas, from Campo de’ Fiori to Monti and beyond.
Vintage is in vogue in Rome and around the globe, so join me as we hunt out the best on my vintage fashion tour! On this highly customizable, utterly unique private tour, I’ll introduce you to Rome’s best vintage shops. So whether you’re after clothing, handbags, shoes or sunglasses, we’ll seek out exactly what you need to complete your vintage wardrobe.
As a highlight of the tour, we’ll be visiting Sarah Jessica-Parker’s favorite vintage store in Rome, a hidden retreat I’ve been visiting for years. But we won’t just be staying in one place: this itinerary takes you around Rome’s most fashionable areas, from Campo de’ Fiori to Monti and beyond. Want to find out more about what my vintage fashion tour entails? Read on to find out!
After meeting at your hotel, we’ll make our way towards Campo de’ Fiori. Venturing off this atmospheric square, we’ll walk down the Via dei Giubbonari, one of the historic centre’s most interesting streets. It was named after its corset weavers (gipponari) who historically plied their trade here, and the street is still buzzing with hand-tailored fashion.
We’ll also wander down the Via dei Cappellari or ‘hat-makers’ street.’ More of a narrow alleyway than a street right in the centre of the capital, Via Dei Cappellari oozes character. Lining it is a bohemian mix of speakeasy cocktail bars, hole-in-the-wall hair salons and vintage clothing shops.
The last street in this area on our must-see list is the Via del Pellegrino, or ‘street of the pilgrims.’ Far from the Vatican-themed souvenirs its name might suggest, this street’s main offerings are its vintage boutiques, galleries, and trendy bars.
A couple of minutes’ walk from Campo de’ Fiori takes us to the strangely shaped, yet stunning, Piazza Navona. Around the periphery of this oval square, given its shape by the first-century stadium that underlies it, we’ll visit a series of quaint galleries and vintage boutiques, including Cinzia, my personal favourite!
In business since 1980, this place is the bee’s knees when it comes to vintage Italian fashion. As well as being a Mecca for all kinds of vintage attire, visiting Cinzia’s is also educational. Teaching you to recognize a vintage piece and evaluate whether you should add it to your collection.
Once the deep underbelly of ancient Rome, when it went by the name ‘Suburra’, Monti has since flourished into an authentic artisan area. Just a few minutes’ walk from the Colosseum but away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist masses.
My vintage fashion tour will take you around this trendy neighborhood, feeding your curiosity with nuggets of local information and visits to its vintage boutiques. If this tour sounds right up your street, why not combine it with another experience from my collection? Message me about adding a Vatican or Colosseum tour or the perfect combination of fashion and culture!
